Sainte Anne de la

Butte aux Cailles

(Saint-Anne-de-la-maison-blanche)

186, rue de Tolbiac, 75013 Paris
The present church of St. Anne de la Butte aux Cailles replaces a chapel built in the middle of the 19th century. The construction started in 1894 and the final façade in 1898, thanks to a donation from the Lombart family of chocolatiers, which earned it its nickname "chocolate façade". The towers and bells were completed in 1900 for the 1900 World's Fair. When the churches and the state separated in 1905, the church became the property of the City of Paris and was finally consecrated in 1912. The church has been listed as a historical monument since 2018, because of the beauty of the stained glass windows and mosaics that came out of the Mauméjean workshops. The church is being restored during 2022-2025.
